Dementia Care Home in Swindon

We are pleased to provide a range of care options at our care home in Swindon, such as dementia care, respite care, nursing care, and residential care. Although we recognise that all of our personal care services are important, we want to highlight just how crucial being able to deliver excellent dementia care to our residents is. Dementia care is such a vital service that so many people need, and we’re so proud to be able to provide so many of our residents with the high-level care they deserve.

We provide residents here at Ridgeway Rise Care Home with person-centred care in a contemporary yet comfortable setting where they have access to many fantastic facilities and many different ways in which they can lead active and sociable lives. This homely environment has been designed to make living with dementia that little bit easier for our residents, and with a personalised care plan, our residents can rest assured that their quality of life is nothing but the highest it can be.

What is Dementia Care?

The term “dementia” is commonly used to define a wide range of conditions that have a variety of effects on people of a certain age, however, dementia can affect an individual of any age. Most types of dementia are heavily linked with memory loss. There are various degrees and stages of dementia, and it is most commonly known for altering cognitive abilities such as the ability to move or speak.

Knowing when to move into a care facility might be challenging, and the process of deciding whether or not to do so can be filled with stress and upset. When dementia is in its early to middle stages, indications and symptoms may include difficulties planning and creating meals, having trouble remembering dates and appointments, and having trouble getting around the house. When these symptoms begin to affect day-to-day life, it may be time to start looking for full-time care, such as at a care facility.

There are many things to do in and around Swindon, from museums to plenty of incredible entertainment and nightlife options. The Wyvern Theatre, the Designer Outlet, and Swindon’s oldest entertainment venue are all great places to spend some well-deserved quality time with friends and family.

The award-winning Steam Museum of GWR’s exhibits on trains and social history make for a fantastic family outing for history buffs and trainspotters alike. We also advise those of our residents and guests who enjoy being outside to visit Stanton Country Park, which is situated in Swindon’s northeast area.

Inclusive & Accessible Activities

Creating and maintaining a balanced activity schedule is important to us at Ridgeway Rise Care Home since it benefits all of our residents in a variety of different ways. Our residents are kept interested, stimulated, active, and social, all of which are essential for maintaining one’s wellbeing.

The entertainment we provide to our residents, as well as the activities and outings we offer, always have our resident’s well-being at heart. Our activities team works very hard to develop an activities programme that contains a range of activities that are open to all of our residents so that nobody ever feels left out or excluded.

We pay special attention to each resident’s interests and pastimes so that we can include them in the weekly activity plan. We value giving our residents the freedom to continue doing the things they enjoy while also giving them the chance to grow. Board games, memory boxes, and inviting live music performers to our facility are just some of the activities we offer to our residents who have dementia. These kinds of activities are excellent for reducing any dementia-related, distressing emotions.

Supporting our Ridgeway Rise Residents

In our purpose-built care facility in Swindon, we take great pride in offering high-quality dementia care to all of our residents who need it. Our facility is well-equipped to handle any and all emergencies, and our staff members are very skilled at providing both medical care and emotional nursing memory therapies for our residents. At the end of the day, we are a group of individuals who are passionate about providing care for the elderly.

When it comes to our residents who have dementia, we are just as committed to making sure they keep their routines while adjusting to their new surroundings. Our home manager sets up a meeting with potential residents and their loved ones before they move into Ridgeway Rise to offer advice and make sure this is the best course of action for them. An individualised care plan is then tailored to each resident’s unique needs.
