A Magical Trip to Wyvern Theatre!

At Ridgeway Rise Care Home, we know that a fulfilling life is made up of meaningful moments, and our recent trip to the Wyvern Theatre was exactly that. A group of our residents enjoyed an afternoon out to see Ghost the Musical, and it truly was an afternoon to remember!

For many of the residents who attended, the day was a welcome chance to enjoy live theatre again, some for the first time in many years. From the moment we arrived at the Wyvern Theatre, the atmosphere was full of excitement. Everyone was made comfortable in their seats and had time to settle in before the curtain went up. The production was filled with powerful music, emotional performances and striking choreography, which left a real impression on our residents and team.

One of our residents, Audrey, reflected on the experience afterwards, saying, “It was a very good show and everyone was well organised on stage, with beautiful singing voices. It’s been a very long time since I last attended a show in a theatre, so I didn’t know what to expect. The place was really big and we got comfortable seats right near the entrance. I was glad we got in early, so we were not rushed and had enough time to safely get to our seats. I had an enjoyable afternoon and was glad I got the chance to watch it. Thank you for organising it.”

Another resident, called Jayne, added: “The singing was brilliant, very good choreography, and the actors were amazing. I was nervous about getting to and from the show; however, Trevor and Maryam made me feel so safe and comfortable the whole time. It was such a breeze, and I didn’t have to worry about anything at any point. It was lovely to experience and do something that I never thought was going to be possible, now I live here at Ridgeway.”

It is important to us at Ridgeway Rise to ensure residents can continue to enjoy the world beyond our doors, so we encourage them to stay active in our community and provide many opportunities for socialisation and shared experiences. Whether it is a trip to the theatre, a walk around a museum or simply a chat over coffee in town, we are proud to offer opportunities that help people feel connected and inspired.

For our residents, the day was filled with laughter, conversation and shared enjoyment. The trip sparked memories, created new stories to tell, and most importantly, reminded everyone that life in a care home can still be full of rich and rewarding experiences.
