SURPRISE!

Team and residents at Ridgeway Rise decided to treat their nurses Andreea and Cristian to an unforgettable wedding gift. On 27th September the couple got married at the Swindon’s Registry Office and their friends used all sorts of excuses to lure them back to the workplace. When they arrived, they were welcomed by the surprise wedding reception. Ridgeway Rise care home residents gathered on both sides of the red carpet, forming flower arches and a tunnel for the happy couple to walk through.

Bella Balaci, the general manager said: “We look after our residents but we also take care of our Team members, who day in and out bring their smiles, passion and caring hearts to provide the best care to those, who need it the most”.
The home chef manager, Jo prepared impressive 3 tier cake, there was a DJ leading the guests onto the dance floor and running wedding games. A professional photographer was on site to capture happy moments. The Team aimed to recreate some of the customs and traditions from the couple’s homeland by learning traditional dance and serving multicultural dishes.
The emotional groom and bride thanked everyone saying “thank you for a huge surprise and being with us on this special day. It was a pleasure to share our celebrations with the best team, guest and residents ever!”

Friends and colleagues of Cristian and Andreea Panaitiu set about decorating Ridgeway Rise in Blunsdon St Andrew to surprise the happy couple after they married at Swindon Registry Office and were coaxed back to their workplace.

Care home residents gathered on both sides of a red carpet, forming flower arches and a tunnel for the happy couple to walk through when they arrived.

Cristian, 29, said: “Thank you to the team for that unbelievable surprise and for being with us on our special day. You made it very special.”

Andreea, 28, said: “Thank you for all the hard work and organisation that this took.

“It was a pleasure to share our celebrations with the best team, guest and residents ever.”

The care home’s chef manager prepared a towering three-tier cake, a DJ encouraged the guests onto the dancefloor and a professional photographer captured priceless moments.

The team aimed to recreate some of the customs and traditions from the couple’s homeland of Romania by learning traditional dance and serving multicultural dishes.

A slideshow of photos from throughout the couple’s courtship played during the reception.

Ridgeway Rise general manager Bella Balaci said: “We look after our residents but we also take care of our team members who day in and day out bring their smiles, passion and caring hearts to provide the best care to those who need it the most.

“Cristian and Andreea are two very caring individuals so the team wanted to give something back and worked together to put this reception on for them.

“The place was packed, people came in on their days off to be part of it and the residents really enjoyed being part of the wedding experience.

“It was a memorable day for everyone and we all had a wonderful time.”

Andreea and Cristian met while working in a care home in Hungerford before moving to Swindon and working at various care homes in town, then joining the Ridgeway Rise team in April.

The pair are currently off on their honeymoon and will return to work tomorrow.

The care home often organises events to fulfil its residents’ biggest wishes and decided to do something similar for two of its dedicated staff.

Previously, it hosted a classic car show for a motoring enthusiast and given another resident tickets to his first STFC match.
