We are very proud to announce that Andreea Birligea is this year’s finalist at the Great British Care Awards in End of Life Care category.
Andreea is the Unit Manager at Ridgeway Rise care home. She is our in house trainer trainer in oral hygiene. Andreea’s devotion and caring nature especially comes across when she provides support to the residents and their families through most sensitive times, such as end of life care.
Andreea actively participates in developing comprehensive care plans and relevant risk assessments. She established a great network of support with other healthcare professionals, who specialise in palliative care. As a named nurse, Andreea builds strong rapport with her residents, which is crucial when end of life care commences. She always takes extra time to get to know residents, their background and tailor care plans to their needs. She takes the responsibility for planning care, consulting other professionals and communicating with families. The focus of end of life care for Andreea is not only on medical needs, reducing non-essential medication and providing effective pain relief. She always makes sure that care is personalised to the wishes and preferences as previously discussed with the resident and their family. Andreea has a great feedback from other professionals and relatives regarding her timely intervention when she identifies that resident’s needs are about to change and they are approaching end of life care.
Andreea’s professionalism and compassion are very transparent in her interactions with the relatives. She takes time explaining the next steps, discussing options and updating on resident’s condition.
Andreea has started level 4 diploma course in Leadership & Managements. She is also qualified as an in-house trainer making sure the whole team is competent, confident and understanding for sensitive needs of palliative care residents.
Those residents who are concluding their journey at Ridgeway Rise can always count on the high level of care with Andreea by their side. Her smile brings relief. Her kind words offer consolation and her caring heart always puts dignity, respect and individuality of residents first
